What does Ofsted want to know?

Ofsted’s role

Ofsted’s role is to make sure that organisations providing education, training and care services in England do so to a high standard for children and students. Every week, they carry out hundreds of inspections and regulatory visits throughout England and publish the results online.

Ofsted reports directly to Parliament and we are independent and impartial.

What is Ofsted’s focus

Ofsted’s short-term focus is on:

  • how well are students prepared for return to the classroom,
  • how leaders ensure students settling back into normal routine and behaviours,
  • how health and wellbeing issues are being addressed

Ofsted also carries out a range of professional discussions on topics likely to include:

  • how well were students prepared for on line virtual learning,
  • what interventions did Year 11 and 13 have during lock down to prevent students becoming NEET?
  • What is the current provision for Year 11/13 to prevent further issues of students becoming NEET?
  • What alternatives are being looked at relating to work experience not being available?
